Celebrating a special occasion or coordinating your nails with the season is a pretty popular thing to do in the beauty world, but sometimes nail trends can get a little out of control. Thanks to social media, we’ve been able to witness some bizarre nail art. From live ants to ultrasound nails, you’d think it couldn’t get any more interesting, but the latest trend seems extremely dangerous — even for those who dare to try it. We’re talking about birthday cake nails.
Now, there are a lot of ways to celebrate your birthday, but this one seems like the most daring. A nail art Instagram account, @not_your_mommas_nails, first posted a video of these crazy nails, which she created for her birthday, back in 2016. It starts with birthday candles mounted onto nails — but it’s not clear what is making the candles stick to the nails themselves. If this wasn’t already bizarre, someone comes in and lights each candle individually. Yes, with real fire.
However, in her caption, the nail artist wrote, “Please note, no nails were harmed in the making of this video.
Please don’t play with fire!” By the looks of it, this is a design you may not want to try at home, unless you’re blowing them out right away. I may have cringed a little when she flipped her hand over because of that flammable piece of paper towel underneath, but it looks like everyone remained unscathed.
