Allure talked to several makeup artists who shared their favorite makeup hacks to help solve common mascara woes.

To keep a lash curl that lasts all day, pump your eyelash curler across your entire lash, instead of just at the base. Then, layer a coat of regular mascara over a layer of waterproof mascara right after you curl them – how they work together to keep lashes from drooping is a mystery, but makeup artist Mally Roncal swears by it.

For a more natural look, Pati Dubroff, who frequently works with Priyanka Chopra, also suggests adding brown mascara to your bottom lashes to give your eyes some definition, without having to add eyeliner to your bottom lid. But for a look that stands out, apply a coat of colored mascara like burgundy or dark blue on top of the usual black.
