One often scrolls through Instagram, sees those intricate nail art designs, and thinks: “Yeah, no way.”

Good news! One doesn’t need a steady hand, a fine-art degree, or an hour to spare to rock some seriously cool nails. This is for all who want a touch of flair without the frustration.

Glitter Ombré

One should start with a base coat and two coats of their favorite solid nail polish. While the second coat is still wet or with a fresh top coat, lightly sprinkle loose glitter onto the tip of the nail, letting it become denser at the very end. Gently tap off excess and seal with a clear top coat for a sparkling fade.

Simple Dots

One should choose two contrasting polish colors. Apply their base color and let it dry completely. Dip a bobby pin end, a toothpick, or a dotting tool into their second polish color. Carefully place dots onto the nail. One can do a single dot, a line of dots, or random polka dots.

Accent Nail

This is the ultimate cheat code! One should paint all their nails one color. For just one accent nail, usually the ring finger, they should do something different. This could be a contrasting solid color, a full glitter polish, a metallic shade, or even a simple stick-on nail decal. It’s impactful with minimal effort.

Tape Stripes

One can achieve perfect lines using household tape! They should paint their base color and let it dry completely. Apply thin strips of painter’s tape or even Scotch tape in their desired pattern, e.g., straight lines, chevron. Paint a contrasting color over the tape, then immediately peel off the tape before it dries.

Splatter Effect

For a fun, abstract look, one should apply a base color and let it dry. Dip an old toothbrush into a contrasting polish that’s slightly thinned with a drop of nail polish remover. Hold the brush a few inches above the nail and flick the bristles with your thumb to create random splatters.

Metallic Tips

One can give themselves a glamorous twist on a French tip. They should paint their nails with a clear or nude base. Once dry, use a metallic silver or gold polish, or a thin nail art brush, to paint just the very tip of the nail. Don’t worry about perfection; a slightly messy line can look artsy! Seal with a top coat.

Dry Brush Strokes

This technique creates an abstract, painterly effect. One should apply a base color and let it dry completely. They should wipe almost all the polish off their brush for a second, contrasting color (make it very dry). Lightly drag the mostly dry brush across the nail in random strokes. Repeat with other colors if desired.

Sticker & Decal Fun

This is the easiest nail art there is! One should apply their base polish and let it dry completely. Choose their favorite nail stickers or water decals. Peel and carefully place them onto the nail. Press down gently. Once positioned, apply a generous layer of clear top coat to seal and protect the design.
