The Coroner Revealed Her Official Cause of Death

According to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office, Panettiere died from the toxic effects of fentanyl, 4-ANPP, alprazolam, methocarbamol and quetiapine. Officials classified the manner of death as an accident rather than a suicide or homicide. The findings were released on September 22, more than five weeks after Panettiere died.

She Was Found Unresponsive in Greenville

Emergency responders were called to a Greenville residence shortly before 2 p.m. on August 16 after a report involving an unresponsive woman. Officials said Panettiere was found in cardiac arrest, and emergency personnel performed advanced life-support measures in an effort to revive her. She was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 2:32 p.m.

The Autopsy Found No Contributing Trauma

The coroner’s office said an autopsy was performed by a board-certified forensic pathologist. Officials reported that there were no signs of physical trauma that contributed to Panettiere’s death. Toxicology findings instead led authorities to identify the combination of substances as the cause of death.
