Miley Cyrus Spots Dolly Parton While Playing Her New Music, Calls It a ‘Sign’

Miley Cyrus recently shared an emotional moment with fans while listening to music from her new album, Bass Persuades. As she drove around playing one of the new tracks, Cyrus suddenly spotted a cardboard cutout of her late godmother, Dolly Parton, outside a nearby home and immediately called the unexpected sighting “a sign.” The moment came less than a month after Parton died at age 80, making the encounter especially meaningful for Cyrus and her fans.

In the viral clip, Cyrus can be heard enjoying her new music as she drives before suddenly noticing the familiar image of Parton. The clip quickly attracted attention because of the close relationship between Cyrus and Parton and the timing so soon after Parton’s death.

The sighting happened as Cyrus was promoting Bass Persuades, her 10th studio album, which was released on September 18, 2026. The 11-track record represents a new musical chapter for the singer and includes songs such as “Bass Persuades,” “Let’s Get Married,” “Different Religion” and “Neon Signs.” Cyrus has also described the album as reflecting a period of personal change and emotional growth.

Dolly Parton Died in August

Parton died in Nashville on August 25, 2026, at age 80, according to her publicist and multiple major news organizations. Her publicist later said Parton died at Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center after a brief battle with cancer and was surrounded by loved ones. A private service was planned for immediate family, while tributes from fellow musicians and fans quickly followed.

After Parton’s death, Cyrus shared a deeply personal tribute describing her godmother as an “angel” who had always been by her side.
