This week, Jared Kushner’s push to end the war in Ukraine got overshadowed by something far less diplomatic: an alleged makeover. The 45-year-old, married to Ivanka Trump, has served as the lead US negotiator on Russia-Ukraine peace talks since President Donald Trump’s second term began. But after a recent call-in appearance, much of the online reaction had little to do with his message, and everything to do with his noticeably brighter smile.
Over the weekend, Kushner drew criticism for suggesting Ukraine give up territory Russian President Vladimir Putin has been fighting for. Calling into the Yalta European Strategy conference in Kyiv, he said, “President Putin has laid out his line of what he wants to achieve. If Ukraine wanted to withdraw to that line, then obviously, we have the rest of the deal set up and put together. Ukraine right now does not want to do that.”
The reaction, though, quickly drifted from what Kushner said to how he looked. According to the Irish Star, one commenter wrote, “Kushner’s face lookin like he went to Karen Huger’s plastic surgeon,” while another zeroed in on his mouth, saying he “speaks from his lower lip.” A third didn’t hold back either: “Traitor Kushner has only his own interest in mind. (And has fake white teeth!).”
A Dentist Weighs In on the Transformation
Amid the online chatter, the Irish Star reached out to Dr. Gizem Seymenoglu, a GDC-registered dentist and medical aesthetician based in London whose appointments are arranged through Longevita, for a professional opinion. According to Dr. Gizem, there are some signs suggesting Kushner may have had cosmetic dental work. “Looking at Jared’s more recent appearances, his teeth are noticeably bright, uniform, and quite prominent,” she told the outlet.
Dr. Gizem said the change looks like more than a simple whitening treatment. In her view, the size, shape, and opacity of Kushner’s front teeth point to more substantial cosmetic work, most likely crowns or veneers. She also told the Irish Star that the teeth “appear considerably whiter than a typical natural tooth shade, with a fairly consistent, solid appearance across the visible teeth,” a trait she linked to cosmetic restorations.
Proportion was another factor Dr. Gizem raised, separate from the shade issue. “The front teeth look slightly large in proportion to his mouth, particularly when he smiles,” she told the Irish Star. “They are also very bright and uniform, which can give them a more prominent appearance.” Together, she said, size and shade are what make the change most noticeable on camera.
A Smile That Might Not Signal a Problem
Dr. Gizem noted that when cosmetic work is limited to just the front teeth, blending with the rest of the smile becomes especially important. “If cosmetic restorations have been placed across just the front teeth, the main consideration is how well they blend with the surrounding natural teeth,” she told the Irish Star. “Ideally, the color, proportions, and translucency should work together across the whole smile.”
“The brightness and uniformity of the front teeth make them more noticeable, but that doesn’t necessarily indicate an issue with the dental work,” Dr. Gizem told the Irish Star, adding that “some people deliberately prefer a brighter, more defined smile.” In Kushner’s case, she said, that could simply come down to personal aesthetic preference rather than any problem with the work itself.
As for cost, Dr. Gizem told the Irish Star that work limited to the visible front teeth at a high-end US cosmetic dental practice could run between $10,000 and $20,000. She said the price depends heavily on the dentist, the materials used, and how much preparation the teeth require. For a more extensive smile makeover, she added, the cost could climb considerably higher.
What a Full Smile Makeover Could Really Cost
If the work extends well beyond the front teeth, the price climbs by a lot. Dr. Gizem estimated that a full-mouth restoration at a premium US practice could cost between $30,000 and $50,000. “A full-mouth restoration can involve a much larger number of crowns or veneers, and in some cases, additional work may be needed to address the bite or existing dental issues,” she told the Irish Star.
Dr. Gizem’s read remains an outside opinion, not a confirmed diagnosis, and nothing here settles what work, if any, Kushner actually had done. That hasn’t stopped people from picking it apart online, especially given how central his role in the Ukraine talks has been this year. For now, the questions about his teeth seem likely to keep circulating right alongside the unresolved fight over Ukraine’s territory.
Neither one is likely to wrap up soon. Ukraine hasn’t budged on the territory Kushner says it needs to give up; the Yalta conference talks look no closer to being done than before, and what, if anything, he actually had done to his teeth remains unanswered. But if the internet has anything to say about it, Kushner’s smile might end up the most talked-about thing to come out of these negotiations.
