Jim Carrey Is a Married Man Again for the Third Time and Some People Have a Problem With It

For years, Jim Carrey sounded like a man who had already learned everything he needed to know about marriage. After walking down the aisle twice, the comedy star openly questioned whether he would ever do it again. Now, at 64, Carrey has quietly made a very different choice. His representative has confirmed that the actor is married again, and the announcement has given fans more than one reason to talk.

The wedding itself offered few clues. Carrey and his longtime partner exchanged vows in a small, private ceremony in Los Angeles, keeping most details away from the public. The secrecy fits a relationship that has largely unfolded outside Hollywood’s usual glare. They had been photographed together years earlier, yet it took until February 2026 for the pair to step onto a major red carpet together as a couple. 

That appearance came at the César Awards in Paris, where Carrey received an honorary award and publicly acknowledged the woman beside him. In his speech, he called Min Ah his “sublime companion” and told her he loved her. Seven months later, they were husband and wife. The marriage alone was surprising considering something Carrey had said years earlier, although another detail about the newlyweds would attract considerably sharper attention. 

Carrey Once Said Two Marriages Were Enough

Carrey’s reluctance to marry again was hardly a secret. In 2008, while dating Jenny McCarthy, he said he probably would not remarry and joked that after doing it twice, a person “really should stop doing it.” His romantic history gave the remark some context. Carrey’s first marriage had lasted eight years, while his second ended far more quickly. 4

His first wife was Melissa Womer, whom he married in 1987. The couple had a daughter, Jane, before divorcing in 1995. A year later, Carrey married his Dumb and Dumber costar Lauren Holly. That marriage lasted less than a year. Carrey subsequently had several high-profile relationships, but another trip down the aisle appeared increasingly unlikely as the years passed. 

By 2014, however, Carrey had left himself one important escape clause. Asked about marriage again, he said he did not consider it necessary, but acknowledged that he could not predict how he might feel if he met somebody who completely changed his perspective. The actor refused to make “hard, fast rules about the future.” Years later, a relatively private relationship would put that qualification to the test. 4

Min Ah has maintained a much lower public profile than her famous husband. Reports describe her as a Los Angeles based actress and artist, while details about her family, education and career remain scarce. Even the beginning of the couple’s romance is unclear. They were photographed together as early as February 2022 after attending a benefit show in Los Angeles, years before publicly presenting themselves as a couple. 

That long period of privacy makes their February 2026 appearance more significant. Min Ah joined Carrey at the César Awards alongside his daughter Jane and grandson Jackson. From the stage, Carrey thanked all three, publicly placing his partner alongside the family members closest to him. Until then, audiences had been given remarkably little information about the woman in his life, and that lack of information became especially noticeable after their marriage was announced.

One detail quickly dominated some of the conversation. Carrey is 64, while multiple publications report that Min Ah is 32, putting their reported age difference at 32 years. Her precise age does not appear to have been publicly confirmed by the couple, so it deserves that qualification. Still, the reported gap became a focal point online, particularly because it means the newlyweds are roughly a generation apart. 

Their Reported 32 Year Age Gap Is Drawing Criticism

Some readers reacted negatively to the reported age difference after news of the marriage spread. One commenter described Carrey as a “dirty old man,” adding that his wife was “half his age.” Another contrasted their reported ages directly, writing that a 64-year-old marrying a 32 year old “seems kinda groce.” The reactions were blunt, and the age gap was clearly driving them.

Another commenter called the pairing “creepy,” specifically pointing to an older man marrying a 30 something woman. Those posts do not establish how most fans feel about the marriage, and they should not be treated as a public consensus. They do show why the wedding has generated a second conversation beyond Carrey reversing his old position on marriage: some readers are judging the relationship primarily through the couple’s reported ages.

Carrey and Min Ah themselves have offered little public response to that debate. Their relationship remained largely private for years, their wedding was similarly intimate, and Carrey’s most visible statement about his partner came months before the criticism, when he publicly declared his love for her in Paris. For a man who once suggested two marriages should be enough, the clearest statement may ultimately be the decision he made at 64: he chose a third.
