A Sephora employee became curious when the same customer returned each week to purchase an identical luxury lipstick. At first, the routine seemed unusual, but the reason behind it revealed a touching story about a son caring for his mother.
TikTok creator @alyrosemakeup shared the encounter on July 3, 2026. She explained that the man first entered the store looking for Gucci Velvet Matte Lipstick in Goldie Red, a specific shade that apparently meant a great deal to someone in his life.
He returned the following week and requested the same product. When he continued coming back every Friday for nearly a month, the employee finally decided to ask why he needed so many tubes of the exact same lipstick.
A Favorite Lipstick for His Mother

According to Aly, the customer explained that he was buying the lipstick for his mother, who had Alzheimer’s disease and lived in an assisted living facility. Goldie Red was her favorite shade, but her condition caused her to misplace it frequently.
Instead of becoming frustrated when another tube disappeared, the man simply returned to Sephora and replaced it. His weekly visits represented a quiet act of care, allowing his mother to continue enjoying something familiar despite the changes affecting her memory.
Aly appeared deeply moved by his explanation. At the end of her video, she reenacted a conversation with her manager and suggested doing something special for the customer, whom she described as more than deserving.
The Emotional Story Reaches Millions

The video quickly attracted widespread attention on TikTok. At the time the original account was reported, it had received more than 10 million views, over one million likes, and thousands of comments, saves, and shares.
Many viewers admitted that they initially expected a strange or humorous explanation for the repeated purchases. Their reactions changed when they learned that each lipstick was intended for the man’s mother and reflected his patient response to her illness.
Others shared personal memories of relatives who lived with Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. Some also recalled how small objects, including makeup, clothing, and familiar household items, could provide comfort or preserve a sense of identity during difficult periods.
A Small Gesture With a Much Larger Meaning

The story resonated partly because Alzheimer’s affects millions of families. The Alzheimer’s Association estimates that more than 7 million Americans are living with the disease, and that number could approach 13 million by 2050.
Nearly 13 million people in the United States also provide unpaid support to individuals with Alzheimer’s or related dementias. In 2025, these caregivers contributed more than 19 billion hours of assistance, valued at over $446 billion.
Against those enormous figures, one lipstick may seem insignificant. For this customer and his mother, however, Goldie Red was more than a beauty product. Replacing it each week became a simple expression of love, patience, and dignity when familiar parts of everyday life were becoming harder to hold onto.
