Meghan Markle Gets Her Goddess Glow Using This $5 Drugstore Product

We were under the impression that once one joins the royal family, one obtains a certain glow. You know what we mean — that regal, “I’m pretty much a princess” look. Meghan Markle, for example, has been glowing since her May wedding to Prince Harry. But contrary to our belief, Markle actually gets her royal glow from a $5 drugstore product. Does this mean we can all look like almost-princesses?

Markle’s makeup artist, Daniel Martin, recently revealed his tried and true secret for giving clients a to-die-for highlight. At last week’s Tatcha Fall Preview event, Martin, who is also an Honest Beauty Creative Color Consultant, said the key to a perfect glow starts with a great skin care routine.

“A lot of my highlighting is done with skin care,” Martin told E! News. “Before highlighters, you would do highlighting with Aquaphor. Aquaphor will give you that same texture, especially in a photo [when applied] on the high points of the face.”

Yup, that Aquaphor — the same stuff you apply to your super chapped lips and hands. You can grab a small tube of it for under $5.

Martin noted to E! that he never used Aquaphor as an all-over face moisturizer. He would simply apply a bit to the high points of the face where highlighter would go, such as on the cheekbones and nose.

For years, Aquaphor was Martin’s go-to product to keep his clientele glowing for the gods. But since beginning partnerships with Honest Beauty and Dior, Martin made the switch to two other holy grail products that he uses to maintain Markle’s and other clients’ glisten and gleam.

“I don’t use a highlighter product per se, but if I do, I’ll lay it down with Dior — they came out with an incredible highlighting palette,” Martin told E! News. “I’ll take the Honest Beauty Balm and lay it on top of [the Dior highlighter]. It intensifies the highlight, but because of the texture of the magic balm, it gives you that luminosity like you just applied moisturizer.”

Becoming royalty might be easier said than done. But glowing like royalty is actually super easy. Watch out, Meghan Markle. We’re about to jack your highlight routine.
