Ozzy Osbourne died on July 22, 2025, at 76, just weeks after his farewell concert in Birmingham. His daughter Kelly, 41, has since told The Sun how much darker the months afterward were than anyone watching could tell. She says she stopped doing basic things for herself and feared her young son would see her that way. Her story involves a family grave, a single candle and a visitor she never expected.

On February 28, 2026, Kelly and her mother, Sharon, walked onstage at Co-op Live in Manchester to accept Ozzy’s posthumous Lifetime Achievement award at the BRIT Awards. Clips of Kelly in a black gown spread within hours, and many commenters voiced alarm at how slim she looked. Some remarks were harsh enough that she defended herself on Instagram Stories. Kelly says she had no idea how she looked until the pictures landed in front of her.

Kelly told The Sun she did not know she looked that way until she saw the photographs. “I was as shocked as everyone else,” she said. Sharon had told Piers Morgan Uncensored in December 2025 that her daughter was struggling to eat. Kelly says it was not an eating disorder. She could not do anything for herself, she explains, and food made her feel physically ill. Behind all of it sat a loss that was only months old.

Kelly calls the stretch since Ozzy’s death the worst year of her life. In March, the Daily Mail and TMZ reported that she had called off her engagement to Slipknot’s Sid Wilson, seven months after he proposed during Ozzy’s final Black Sabbath show. The two met in 1999 on the Ozzfest tour, became a couple in 2022 and share a three-year-old son, Sidney. Through every blow, Kelly says, one person was never far from her mind.

That person was Sidney. Kelly says she did not want her son to see her in that state, and she moved from Los Angeles to England to live closer to Ozzy’s grave and give him a steadier childhood. The grave sits beside a lake on the family’s 250-acre Buckinghamshire estate. Kelly also practices what she calls candle magic, and she says her father once told her he would send her messages. “I know this sounds woo-woo,” she admits.

At her lowest point, Kelly says, she went to the grave with a white candle and wrote a wish on it. The message was short: “Please help me.” She has explained that she knew she was not well, even before the photographs showed her how much she had changed, and she went to her father to ask for help. She did not have to wait long for an answer. The next day, a black Mercedes pulled up.

Kelly says she has gained about two stone, roughly 28 pounds, in the six months since the BRIT Awards. She does not call recovery quick: it is “not going to be fixed in a day,” she says. Grief has also taught her something unexpected, which is that her sorrow shows how deeply she loved her father. One memory from his final days stays with her, a conversation they had about three days before he died.

Ozzy sat his daughter down and told her she could live the rest of her life knowing one man on earth had truly loved her for everything she is, and that man was him. Kelly has repeated that message publicly. The past year handed her a loss, a breakup and a public that scrutinized her body. Her own account of the way through is short: she asked her father for help at his grave, and help arrived the next day.
